The Journey
It's 1:24 in the morning, all I can think about is the possibilities of the brand that my co host Austin Errthum and I are building and how we have already gone through so many growing pains and we have just begun. Like after we recorded our first episode of the podcast we knew our audio was a huge issue, but we released the episode about Greatness anyway. As I'm thinking about how bad the episode was but how great the journey would be and has been. After we dropped the first episode, we went and picked up a new microphone. Going back to the apartment we live in, we were beyond excited to really invest in the podcast we had just started.
In these blogs our goal is to take you through our journey of our lives from our podcast to our brand to our personal lives being transparent with you along every single step of the way. That way 62 years down the road. Some dGen kids will come across our content and know they can chase their dreams as well, Just a step at a time. 1% at a time.
As we were setting up for episode 2 we couldn't figure out how to get the microphone to work properly. Creating a huge problem as well as a challenge that Austin and I now had to work through. Spending an extra two hours figuring out how to work the microphone properly. Having little to no experience in the technical world: where our solution was to just tap on it, or blow on, and wipe it and it off. So we really do live in the “how many dummies does it take to get a microphone to work” zone. To let you know it takes two, two dummies and extensive research on google, to achieve a quality sounding microphone up and working properly. The following week we were supposed to start filming our podcast to upload it to youtube. After we got done recording it, we saw that the camera was out of focus the whole time (so another failure), a hiccup per say to the journey in building our podcast, building our brand.
There are going to be highs, lows and plateaus throughout your life and the journey that you're on. The difference is where you see your attitude throughout it. Where do you hold your value in, where do you put your attention towards when there are more things than ever before to put your attention towards.
Even though we have had hiccups literally every single step of the way for the past 5 months it's all part of the process and the journey. As we Head into the start of season Two, I want to leave you with this quote from Roy T Bennett, “Failure is a bend in the road, not the end of the road. Learn from failure and keep moving forward.” It brings me a lot of joy to know that all of our failures lead to greater things ahead.
